Commitment to the Community

ERG strives to improve the local and global community–not only in the work that we do, but in our own actions. We participate in the following partnerships and organizations:

WasteWise
Since 1995, a "Green Team" of ERG employees has ensured that we reduce solid waste, recycle, and buy recycled products for our offices as part of our commitment to the WasteWise program. From 2001 to 2003, ERG achieved a 900 percent increase in the amount of waste we diverted from our waste stream. ERG is also a member of the National Recycling Coalition and the Maryland Recyclers Coalition.

Green Power Partnership
Members of this program pledge to replace a portion of their electrical load with energy derived from renewable resources. ERG has joined the ranks of the Green Power Leadership Club, which honors partners whose green power purchases exceed the minimum program requirements by at least a factor of four.

American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE)
ERG is a founding member of the American Council On Renewable Energy (ACORE). Founded in November 2001, ACORE seeks to establish all types of renewable energy—including solar, wind, hydro, geothermal, biomass, ocean, and waste power—as accepted sources of sustainable energy in the United States.

Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NESEA)
ERG is a corporate member of this leading regional organization, which promotes the understanding, development, and adoption of energy conservation and renewable energy technologies.

Best Workplaces for Commuters (BWC)
Since 2003, ERG has earned the Best Workplaces for Commuters distinction from EPA and DOT for offering outstanding commuter benefits to its employees in Boston, Massachusetts, and Arlington, Virginia. Through this commitment, ERG is contributing to reduced local traffic congestion, improved air quality, and employee satisfaction.

Association for Commuter Transportation (ACT)
ERG is an active member of ACT, a nationwide organization for professionals that seeks to create commuter options and foster more workable transportation systems throughout North America.

Society of American Military Engineers (SAME)
ERG has been a corporate sustaining member of SAME since 1999. SAME promotes and facilitates engineering support for national security by building relationships between and competencies of engineering professionals in the uniformed services and private industry.

Businesses for the Bay
ERG joins other businesses housed within the Chesapeake Bay watershed to improve the Bay's water quality by implementing pollution prevention measures in our daily operations.

EnviroMENTOR
Through this program, ERG employees become EnviroMENTOR volunteers—counseling small businesses, free of charge, regarding environmental management systems, environmental compliance, and other related environmental issues.
