Commitment to the Community
ERG strives to improve the local and global communitynot
only in the work that we do, but in our own actions. We participate
in the following partnerships and organizations:
WasteWise
Since 1995, a "Green Team" of ERG employees has ensured
that we reduce solid waste, recycle, and buy recycled products for
our offices as part of our commitment to the WasteWise program.
From 2001 to 2003, ERG achieved a 900 percent increase in the amount
of waste we diverted from our waste stream. ERG is also a member
of the National Recycling Coalition
and the Maryland Recyclers
Coalition.
Green Power
Partnership
Members of this program pledge to replace a portion of their electrical
load with energy derived from renewable resources. ERG has joined
the ranks of the Green Power Leadership Club, which honors partners
whose green power purchases exceed the minimum program requirements
by at least a factor of four.
American Council on
Renewable Energy (ACORE)
ERG is a founding member of the American Council On Renewable Energy
(ACORE). Founded in November 2001, ACORE seeks to establish all
types of renewable energyincluding solar, wind, hydro, geothermal,
biomass, ocean, and waste poweras accepted sources of sustainable
energy in the United States.
Northeast Sustainable Energy Association
(NESEA)
ERG is a corporate member of this leading regional organization,
which promotes the understanding, development, and adoption of energy
conservation and renewable energy technologies.
Best Workplaces for
Commuters (BWC)
Since 2003, ERG has earned the Best Workplaces for Commuters distinction
from EPA and DOT for offering outstanding commuter benefits to its
employees in Boston, Massachusetts, and Arlington, Virginia. Through
this commitment, ERG is contributing to reduced local traffic congestion,
improved air quality, and employee satisfaction.
Association for Commuter
Transportation (ACT)
ERG is an active member of ACT, a nationwide organization for professionals
that seeks to create commuter options and foster more workable transportation
systems throughout North America.
Society of American Military Engineers
(SAME)
ERG has been a corporate sustaining member of SAME since 1999. SAME
promotes and facilitates engineering support for national security
by building relationships between and competencies of engineering
professionals in the uniformed services and private industry.
Businesses for
the Bay
ERG joins other businesses housed within the Chesapeake Bay watershed
to improve the Bay's water quality by implementing pollution prevention
measures in our daily operations.
EnviroMENTOR
Through this program, ERG employees become EnviroMENTOR volunteerscounseling
small businesses, free of charge, regarding environmental management
systems, environmental compliance, and other related environmental
issues.
