  • Drawing on more than 30 years of air rulemaking experience, ERG is supporting the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in a fast-paced rulemaking action that will require facilities in many industrial sectors to report their emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs). Since March 2008, ERG has provided technical and regulatory support for development of the rule, mandated by Congress in the 2008 Consolidated Appropriations Act. ERG is assisting EPA by developing issue papers (e.g., affected sources, reporting thresholds, types of emissions that must be reported, GHG emission calculation protocols, reporting requirements), developing technical background information to support the rule, and structuring the rule. In addition, ERG is providing outreach and meeting support.
