In support of Barnstable County, Massachusetts’ Climate Action Plan (CAP), ERG and its partner, Synapse, performed an economic analysis of climate change impacts on Cape Cod. Specifically, ERG identified the economic impacts of doing nothing to prevent climate change or mitigate emissions; quantified the economic impacts from sea level rise and storm surge; supported Synapse in modeling emissions under “business as usual” and in several emissions reduction scenarios; and completed a benefit-cost analysis on both adaptation and mitigation strategies. The Executive Summary and entire Technical Report, which will inform climate action and policy in Cape Cod, are available online from the Cape Cod Commission.
