resource The Last Five Waquoit Bay Management Objectives (Text Version)

Five other specific management objectives that were agreed on for Waquoit Bay are:

  • Protect shellfish beds from bacterial contamination that results in closures.
  • Reduce or eliminate nuisance macroalgal growth.
  • Prevent eutrophication of rivers and ponds.
  • Maintain diversity of native biotic communities.
  • Maintain diversity of water-dependent wildlife.

The ten management objectives were used to choose ecological entities and certain of their attributes for assessment endpoints. Entities and assessment endpoints will be discussed further in the next module.
