Participants in Problem Formulation

Problem formulation is performed by the risk assessor or risk assessment team, though involvement by the risk management team and other interested parties — people affected by the decisions — may continue during this phase.

Participation by risk managers and interested parties may include discussion of the three products of problem formulation:

  • Assessment endpoints.
  • Conceptual model.
  • Analysis plan

Risk assessors should respond to risk managers' and interested parties' concerns, but should also be sure to maintain the scientific validity of the risk assessment. Click on the icons below to consider the issue further.
