The Information-Gathering Process

Risk assessors should integrate information about:

  • The stressors.
  • The characteristics of the ecosystems potentially at risk.
  • How those ecosystems might be exposed to those stressors.
  • What effects might result from that exposure.

This information provides the foundation for the remaining three steps in problem formulation.
