What if information is limited, or not of good quality? This happens often. If data are unavailable, the risk assessment may be suspended while data are collected, or the risk assessment may be developed on the basis of what is known and what can be extrapolated. If some, but not all, needed information is present, the problem formulation phase helps identify missing data and provides a framework for further data collection. Data validity is an important factor for risk assessors to evaluate as well. This will be discussed in the Analysis section. |
