The elements of each relevant level of organization must be considered
in their relation to the other elements of their environment, and
in light of the three main criteria:
- Ecological relevance.
- Susceptibility to known or potential stressors.
- Relevance to management goals.
Some levels of organization are:
- Individuals.
- Populations.
- Communities.
- Ecosystems.
- Landscapes.
- Multiple ecosystem processes.
Activities on each of these levels have an impact on the others.
