Conceptual Model Example A

Let's consider a simplistic example of a risk hypothesis and a diagram illustrating that hypothesis. Click the shapes to see the components of a generic conceptual model — but first, see if you can guess what they are.

For single stressors and single assessment endpoints, conceptual models can be this simple. However, more complex models and several sub-models may be needed to describe the interaction of multiple and diverse stressors and assessment endpoints.

It's helpful in these diagrams to use distinct and consistent shapes to distinguish stressors, assessment endpoints, responses, exposure routes, and ecosystem processes.
