in-depthAbout the Coho Salmon Example

To illustrate the various types of measure, on the next few screens we will consider a hypothetical situation in which the management goal has been defined as a viable, self-sustaining Coho salmon population that supports a subsistence and sport fishery. Because this is a resource-driven assessment, there are multiple potential stressors, such as dams, toxics, nutrient overenrichment, etc.

Coho Salmon, also called silver salmon, are found in coastal waters of Alaska from southeast to Point Hope on the Chukchi Sea and in the Yukon River to the Alaska-Yukon border.

The assessment endpoints chosen are Coho salmon breeding success, fry survival, and adult return rates.
