Lesson 2 describes how to select from the
collected data in order to move forward and explicitly describe
the exposure and the ecological affects. Lesson 2 also presents
some thoughts on uncertainty, an issue
that must be addressed all along during ecological risk assessment.
Data selection is the process of analyzing the available data to
identify those that can be used to evaluate the conceptual model,
and weeding out all other data.
Reminder! Three types of measure provide useful information for ecological risk assessments:
- Measures of exposure.
- Measures of ecosystem and receptor characteristics.
- Measures of effects.
These data can be collected in a variety of ways, which will be
discussed on the next screen.
