Let's move on to the second key component of exposure characterization:
describing the spatial and temporal distribution of stressors in
the environment.
|
For
physical stressors that directly change or eliminate portions
of the environment, the assessor describes the temporal and
spatial distribution of the disturbed environment itself.
|
Stressor
distribution is described by evaluating two factors:
- The transport pathways by which the stressor reaches the receptor.
- The formation, then distribution, of secondary stressors.
Reminder! Secondary stressors are those
that arise as a result of a primary stressor's effects.
We'll look at each of these factors in turn.
