Lesson 4: Characterizing Ecological Effects

This step describes the effects a stressor might have on an organism or function of concern. Combine the characterization of ecological effects with the exposure characterization described in Lesson 3 to describe adverse effects that might occur in the ecosystem.

There are several methods of performing an ecological response analysis, establishing causality, and linking measures of effect to assessment endpoints, all as part of characterizing ecological effects. The methods used should be described in the stressor-response profile.
