Michael Chestnut is a software engineer/tech lead within ERG’s Product Impact Group. He brings nearly a decade of experience building large-scale software platforms. Most recently, he served as a senior software engineer at Stem, Inc., where he designed and developed backend systems enabling users to participate in wholesale energy market bidding using their battery and solar assets.
Before joining ERG, Michael worked at various startups and consulting firms, mostly within the energy sector, where he gained a diverse background in backend engineering, data science, and consulting. Through these roles, he developed a strong ability to translate complex technical challenges into practical solutions while helping organizations improve engineering processes and adopt cloud-native technologies. Michael is passionate about designing reliable, efficient software that meets user needs and scales effectively. He combines deep backend engineering expertise with cloud-native development experience to build systems that drive collaboration across teams and automate critical workflows, enabling faster and more dependable delivery.
Michael holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and currently resides in Dallas, Texas, where he works remotely. Outside of work, he enjoys swimming, playing volleyball, hiking, and spoiling his chocolate lab, Winnie.
