Sumayal Shrestha
Director of Creative and Digital Marketing
Every project ERG tackles is unique and layered with complexity. The answer is rarely found in a playbook. Working alongside colleagues, clients, and partners with different professional backgrounds and life experiences has taught me that the most effective solutions are often waiting just outside the obvious one. They emerge from bringing together the right people and perspectives and then listening, learning, and building trust. Connecting those dots is my favorite part of the job.
As Director of Creative and Digital Marketing, Sumayal Shrestha convenes people, disciplines, and ideas in collaborative and creative ways to develop effective solutions for complex projects and challenges. She specializes in translating scientific, technical, and policy information into clear, actionable communications that resonate with diverse audiences. Her multidisciplinary career spans environmental science, public health, workplace safety, audience research, multicultural outreach, creative direction, branding, social media and digital marketing, and advertising.
Sumayal has helped a wide variety of organizations—including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, U.S. Department of Defense, and numerous state and local agencies—communicate about a wide array of subjects, including climate change, environmental protection, public health, worker safety, water and energy infrastructure, waste management, emergency preparedness, and community resilience. She has led behavior-change and public education initiatives; advised agency leadership on strategic communications; and developed outreach campaigns that have reached millions of people through digital media, multimedia advertising, and traditional communications.
Originally from Nepal and raised in India, Sumayal holds an M.A. in environmental science and policy from Clark University, as well as a B.A. in economics and a B.F.A. in studio art from Wilson College.
