ERG Cornerstone Project Support and Technical Assistance Services

ERG is proud to be a founding member of the Cornerstone Sustainability Data Initiative, formed in August 2025 to provide high-quality, open-access sustainability data for users everywhere. As a first step, Cornerstone is bringing the two most widely used scope 3 emissions models—the U.S. Environmentally Extended Input-Output (USEEIO) and Open CEDA—under one roof, ensuring continuity and reliability for institutional sustainability measurement.

ERG provides technical assistance and project support services to organizations who are interested in applying Cornerstone data to real-world situations or developing associated tools and models. ERG’s Cornerstone team brings outstanding credentials to this role, having supported the U.S. EPA in developing the USEEIO model and having developed many of the tools for generating the key environmental and economic datasets that underly this model, including a greenhouse gas emissions model that covers over 500 U.S. economic sectors. Among their other accomplishments, ERG’s Cornerstone team has also developed a suite of environmental indicators and a novel approach to assessing consumption-based GHG emissions for all U.S. states.

ERG is proud to offer tailored services to support organizations and their project teams in:

• Maintaining and expanding US input-output modeling for custom applications, building off EPA’s USEEIO modeling framework.
• Using USEEIO-State for state regional modeling.
• Developing physical input-output models, hybrid models, and sector attribution models.
• Building interactive tools and professionally designed reports utilizing Cornerstone data.
• Making contributions, where appropriate, back to Cornerstone’s open data ecosystem to facilitate community collaboration and data sharing.

ERG provides technical assistance for using Cornerstone data products, including the USEEIO model and Supply Chain Factors. After an organization has established a help desk support account with ERG, individuals within the organization can contact ERG directly to access technical support on an as-needed basis. For example, our Help Desk team can help you:

• Select the appropriate emission factors for your footprint.
• Understand and evaluate changes in the model or emission factors over time.
• Perform necessary price adjustments.
• Apply model outputs in a scientifically coherent manner.
