Glenn Sherman

Fire Protection Specialist

I enjoy being able to exercise my passion for fire protection through my work as a fire protection specialist at ERG.

Glenn is an enthusiastic fire protection specialist with more than 40 years of experience in the field. Since joining ERG, he has served as a fire protection specialist for the Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head. In this role, he works to protect all of the base’s buildings and personnel from fires in multiple ways, including dissemination of fire protection information; inspection of all of the base’s fire suppression systems to ensure their ongoing operational readiness; and fulfilment of tasks to ensure conformance with all relevant Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards.

Glenn started his fire protection career over 40 years ago as a volunteer fire fighter with the Prince Georges County Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department—the sixteenth busiest fire department in the United States and the largest in Maryland. While continuing to serve as a fire fighter and gradually working his way up to being president of the department, he began work as a sprinkler technician at a fire safety products company, where he was responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and inspecting fire suppression systems. He was promoted to operations manager after two years and, eventually, to regional vice president. After serving in similar roles for two other companies, he joined ERG in 2019.

Throughout his career, Glenn has attended many fire protection-related classes and seminars to expand his skill base and ensure his knowledge of the field remains current. He is knowledgeable about all National Fire Protection Agency codes relevant to fire protection systems, including sprinklers, fire alarms, and special hazard systems. Glenn has achieved National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies Water Based Fire Projection Systems certification.

Outside work, Glenn enjoys spending time with his family, his dogs, and traveling. He is especially proud of his three grandchildren.
