Clinical Trials Publishes Peer-Reviewed ERG/HHS Study
In February 2016, the Clinical Trials: Journal of the Society for Clinical Trialspublished a peer-reviewed study, conducted by ERG on behalf of the Department of Health and Human Services, that examined costs associated with pharmaceutical clinical trials in the United States. The increasing cost of clinical research in the United States affects drug companies' willingness to undertake pharmaceutical clinical trials, which has significant implications for public health. ERG's study examined the key drivers of direct costs for trials, such as therapeutic areas, clinical procedures, and administrative staff. Gaining a better understanding of these cost drivers is an important step for increasing clinical trial efficiency and reducing costs.
