ERG Brings Applied Research to Life for the Airport Industry

Each year, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine’s Airport Cooperative Research Program (ACRP) invests millions of dollars in researching solutions to airport industry challenges in safety, customer service, efficiency, and management operations. But if that research sits on a shelf, those resources are wasted. During the past year, ERG has developed six compelling case studies of airports using ACRP research, which helps the industry understand the value of the research and its implementable solutions. As part of ACRP’s Impacts on Practice series, each of these case studies tells the story of how an airport used ACRP research to solve a specific problem and identifies key lessons learned. ERG has interviewed airport professionals to develop studies on hosting special events at airports, mitigating wildlife strikes, and building asset management plans.
