ERG Helps EPA Supply Safe Water in Jackson, Mississippi

Jackson, Mississippi, Capitol Building at dusk

In Jackson, Mississippi, a combination of severe weather, failed infrastructure, and operational trials recently led to an extended boil water advisory. During this emergency, ERG helped EPA provide crucial support to Jackson through the Compliance Advisor Program, which aims to help water systems of small and underserved communities supply clean and safe drinking water to their customers. ERG offered technical support to help improve the disinfection process and provided a low-flow flush protocol for drawing higher-quality water into the distribution system, helping to get the community off the boil water order. ERG continues to offer help with sampling and other resources to assist with improvement efforts.
