ERG launches product impact (pi), making product environmental data easier to find, understand, and use
CONCORD, Mass.—ERG announced today the launch of product impact (pi), a new web-based platform that makes environmental data for products and materials easier to find, understand, and use.
Environmental product declarations, product carbon footprints, and other product- and material-level environmental assessments are becoming more prevalent across sectors. But the resulting data remains fragmented across sources, formats, and rules, making it difficult to find and use for large-scale purchasing.
The pi platform brings this information together in a structured platform that allows users to explore product environmental impacts, assess emissions data for various sectors, organize data for analysis, and integrate the data into existing tools and workflows through the pi API, which enables the easy sharing of pi’s data to other software applications.
The platform also includes Pascal, an AI-powered guide that lets users ask questions about products, impacts, methodologies, and the data in pi using plain language—making complex environmental information about products and materials more understandable for experts and non-experts alike.
“Life cycle assessment experts have spent years creating more and better product environmental data. The pi platform is launching with environmental data across the apparel, energy and power, and electronics sectors, with additional product sectors and tool capabilities continuing to roll out.
