ERG-Supported EPA Non-Potable Water Reuse Application Launched

ERG helped EPA’s Office of Research and Development create its Non-Potable Environmental and Economic Water Reuse (NEWR) Calculator to identify environmental and cost-effective options for reusing treated water for non-drinking purposes such as flushing toilets, washing clothes, and irrigating crops. The calculator identifies source water options based on user-selected geography, climate, building specifications, and end use. In addition to the calculator, ERG published a study in Water Research that uses NEWR simulations to assess the suitability of onsite non-potable reuse options across the entire United States.
