ERG Supports Landmark EPA PFAS Settlement with Chemours

ERG is proud to have supported EPA’s landmark $450 million settlement with Chemours, a per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) manufacturer. The settlement covers the company’s alleged violations under the Clean Water Act (CWA), Resources Conservation and Recovery Act, Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), and West Virginia Water Pollution Control Act. 

EPA’s press release includes more information on how the settlement helps to reduce water contamination and protect public health. 

ERG’s enforcement team has supported EPA with the case since 2019, including conducting over 15 inspections of Chemours facilities.

Often called “forever chemicals,” PFAS are persistent in water, soil, and air, and may pose risks to human health.
