Emre Kara

Vice President

To me, working alongside equally driven colleagues, on software that aims to enhance the well-being of our world, is pure joy.

Emre Kara, an ERG vice president, serves as the technology lead for ERG’s Product Impact Group. Emre brings to this role substantial prior experience leading engineering and data science teams, most notably as vice president of engineering at eIQ Mobility, where he led the team until its acquisition by Nextera Energy Resources in 2021.

Before joining ERG, Emre served as the chief technology officer for the nonprofit organization, Building Transparency, where he worked on software tools that enable benchmarking, assessment, and reductions in embodied carbon for the construction sector. With a deep passion for technology and performance-driven engineering, Emre excels in building and scaling engineering teams, modernizing software architectures, and driving cross-functional collaboration to develop innovative products. He thrives in high-visibility leadership roles, shaping engineering culture, streamlining development processes, and leveraging AI to enhance system capabilities.

Emre holds a Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University in civil and environmental engineering and an M.S. in building engineering from TU Delft, the Netherlands. He lives with his family in Davis, California. Outside of work, Emre enjoys playing string instruments, cycling, and spending time outdoors with his family.
