ERG to help New Mexico transition government fleet to all-electric vehicles

ERG has been awarded a contract with the New Mexico Department of Transportation to help transition the state fleet to electric vehicles (EVs). The change was directed through a 2023 executive order from Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham to meet the state’s environmental and public health priorities.
Along with teaming partner CLEAResult Energetics, a consulting firm focused on clean energy, ERG will support the state’s transition to EVs by:
- Developing a comprehensive plan and timeline for New Mexico’s fleet transition.
- Developing new and revised draft rules and policies.
- Developing enforceable performance metrics to track state agencies’ progress, like electric vehicle procurement rates.
- Establishing and maintaining a system to track and analyze fleet data.
- Creating progress reports, briefings, and presentations to update state agencies and stakeholders on the transition.
To help New Mexico meet its ambitious goal of making its state vehicle fleet fully electric by 2035, ERG will engage a cross-disciplinary team of experts in clean transportation, environmental policy, data analysis, and communications.
“ERG’s nationally recognized experts in clean transportation—with experience spanning from fleet electrification and charging infrastructure deployment to other critical vehicle decarbonization strategies—are proud to support New Mexico in achieving its forward-looking environmental and public health goals,” said Vehicle Decarbonization Lead Sara Forni, who will spearhead the project. “By guiding the development and implementation of an electric vehicle transition plan for state-operated vehicle fleets, ERG and the state of New Mexico will help drive the EV market, increase public access to charging infrastructure, and protect the health and well-being of New Mexicans for generations to come.”
