Support for Arlington County’s Accelerate Annual Report

Arlington County, Virginia, is committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. To track and share progress toward this ambitious goal, the Arlington Initiative to Rethink Energy (AIRE), part of the County’s Department of Environmental Services, produces an annual Accelerate report that highlights the county’s energy, climate, and environmental projects, programs, and policies. For the report’s third edition, AIRE sought ERG’s support to develop a professionally designed, visually engaging publication that would effectively document and share environmental stories and accomplishments with residents.

ERG developed a vibrant, digital, booklet-style report that includes nearly 40 stories across more than 30 two-page spreads. We collaborated closely with county staff in streamlining the content and developing the design and layout. For example, to guide the report’s look and feel, our project team developed two initial design concepts and worked iteratively with county staff to refine the format and visual elements. We copy-edited the report, made it fully 508-compliant, and optimized it for easy online navigation. Following the county’s publication of the third edition of the Accelerate report in 2024, ERG provided similar support again in 2025. All reports are available on the county’s reports webpage.
