Understanding Coastal Wetland Loss

Project Brief

The Challenge

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration wanted to better understand regional stressors on wetlands in coastal watersheds, local protection strategies, and key gaps that, if addressed, could help reverse the trend of wetland loss.

ERG's Solution

ERG supported an in-depth review of seven focal watersheds along the Atlantic and Gulf coasts. We conducted research, facilitated stakeholder input sessions, and created four comprehensive regional reports. The reports have resulted in a better understanding of the factors contributing to wetland loss, and point wetland resource managers to tools and practices they can apply in their own coastal watersheds.
