Every data collection is unique. I enjoy developing innovative solutions to gather the data that ERG relies on in support of healthier, safer, and more sustainable systems. My role at ERG extends across multiple service areas, allowing me to collaborate with a wide range of clients and colleagues and continually take on new challenges.
Nyssa Ackerley is a senior analyst with 19 years of technical experience in survey research and data analysis. She has supported hundreds of data collection projects ranging from program evaluations to iterative expert elicitations to large-scale multi-mode statistical surveys. Nyssa’s extensive resume spans multiple ERG service areas and includes experience in public health, food safety, workplace safety, good manufacturing practices, disaster recovery, vehicle emissions, effluent guidelines, and coastal resilience. Her research has been published in peer-reviewed publications, including Food Protection Trends, Journal of Food Protection, and Journal AWWA.
As ERG’s Qualtrics XM brand administrator and lead survey implementation specialist, Nyssa regularly manages all technical aspects of data collection efforts. This includes questionnaire design and formatting, custom electronic survey coding (using html and JavaScript), distribution campaigns, database management, project workflows, and survey software integrations. In addition, she has developed comprehensive training materials for data collectors to ensure the accuracy and reliability of collected data. Nyssa has also completed the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) certification course for Human Subject Research (HSR) Non-Clinical Research Training.
In addition to managing the technical aspects of data collections, Nyssa is an expert in the systematic processing of complex datasets, including cleaning, coding, and performing quantitative and qualitative analyses. She leverages statistical software including Stata and other data visualization tools to derive meaningful insights from data and ensure that findings are both accurate and actionable.
Nyssa holds a B.S. in resource economics from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and an M.S. in agriculture, food and environment from Tufts University. She enjoys backyard gardening and outdoor adventures with her family and their dog—especially camping and hiking in the White Mountains.
