ERG-Built, Multi-State Reporting System for Chemicals in Children’s Products Launched

ERG recently worked with the Northeast Waste Management Officials Association’s Interstate Chemicals Clearinghouse to construct a reporting system on the presence of chemicals of concern in children's products. The system launched in Washington and Oregon, which require anyone selling or manufacturing children’s products to disclose whether their products contain any of the designated chemicals of concern. The ERG-built High Priority Chemicals Data System (HPCDS) streamlines reporting for manufacturers and provides public access to the reported information, resulting in more consistent and accurate data. The system is flexible enough to accommodate additional states and other types of product disclosures, and ultimately, ERG aims to help Washington and Oregon lead the nation in revealing what types of products contain chemicals of concern.
