ERG Co-writes Article on the EPA’s U.S. Environmentally Extended Input-Output Model

ERG staff presenting on the U.S. Environmentally Extended Input-Output model

ERG staff recently co-authored an article on a new life cycle model designed to help government agencies and businesses assess the environmental impacts of goods and services. The article will appear in the Journal of Cleaner Production and emerged from ERG’s work in compiling the dataset that underlies the U.S. Environmentally Extended Input-Output (USEEIO) model, as well as EPA’s Tool for Sustainable Materials Management. ERG’s work focused on creating highly detailed accounts of land, water, energy, and mineral resource use from national datasets and attributing these accounts to industrial sectors. ERG’s Troy Hawkins, one of the article’s authors, has also served on the Technical Advisory Panel for the USEEIO model.
