ERG just completed a two-year project with the Pisces Foundation in which we conceptualized, organized, and helped launch the Water Data Collaborative, an affiliation consisting of the nation’s leading nongovernmental organizations focused on citizen water quality monitoring. ERG offered technical, facilitation, and organizational support and worked with a steering committee to develop a charter, a framework for action, and an organizational structure. A major goal of the Water Data Collaborative is to develop and implement technology to enable citizen data to be shared and used to restore and protect freshwater resources. The Collaborative is working closely with and will ultimately be integrated into the Internet of Water—a voluntary network that allows people to openly share water data and information. This important work was highlighted in a recent Water Foundation article.
