ERG Supports Climate Change Adaptation Workshop in New York

NYSERDA

In May, ERG dispatched a team of technical experts and facilitators to support the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, or NYSERDA, at a workshop to help inform its future research on climate change adaptation. The event collected input from more than 50 academics, researchers, local government officials, and community advocates across a range of disciplines. With support from Maxwell Unterhalter, Linda Girardi, and Ian Todreas, ERG’s Sumayal Shrestha orchestrated an interactive process to elicit participants’ ideas on adaptation research needs that NYSERDA is uniquely positioned to meet. The selected research areas will support existing efforts to protect New York’s economy, communities, and environment. The culmination of this process will be a new five-year climate change adaptation research plan, which ERG will draft for publication later this year.
